SUMMER IN THE CITY
Arrived in New York City today!!!! The weather is perfection and I'm so excited to share all my photos with you all when I return. I'm not able to upload camera photos as I have no adapted so only the odd iPhone picture until I'm back on homeland. This afternoon we went to the top of the rock and I wore a fine grey jersey dress from Topshop. Perfect for the hot weather. And of course, travelling nowhere without my trusted oversized Zara handbag.

GATSBY. WHAT GATSBY?
The recent release of Baz Lurman's, The Great Gatsby has rekindled my love for gold jewellery due to the incredible artwork produced by Damien Drew and the rest of the art direction team. It has a true feel of the glamour and jazz era of the 1920's that F.Scott Fitzgerald depicts throughout the classic American novel. The extravagant parties of champagne, golden lights and fireworks teamed with the contemporary soundtrack produced by Jay Z reminded me of gold Rolex watches, bottles of Dom Perignon and the vintage inspired jewellery we still see today on stars such as Lana Del Rey, Rihanna and Cara Delevinge. Summer 2013 really is the perfect time to try out some vintage inspired gold jewellery. The gold pieces by Versace, Givenchy and Chanel have been seen on many of the stars and I dream of one day owning a 1990's Chanel necklace, however more affordable vintage style jewellery can be found on gogophilip.com. Their pieces are flawless and have even been seen on Rihanna. GoGo Philip is also stocked in Selfridges and Topshop stores throughout England. Below are a few of my favorite gold pieces, some affordable and some will sadly require a little hard work to become affordable.
Fabulous gold Yves Saint Laurent necklace embodies the artwork of The Great Gatsby. It's such a unique style and would look flawless against a white dress to make it fully stand alone.
(Image and price found on http://www.selfridges.com. £770.00)
By jewellery designer, Jennifer Fisher, this bracelet and ring combination is beautiful. The white diamonds create such femininity in this piece, however it is still versatile enough to wear with other rings and bracelets.

These GoGo Philips earrings are amazing. They were seen on Rihanna at the after party of her River Island launch back in March. The bamboo effect would also work perfect with the new jungle prints that are everywhere at the moment.

(£8.50)
The chunky gold hoops aren't for everyone and I think these from asos.com are perfect and a little more subtle. The thinner gold hoops are also perfect for evening wear to frame your face against an up do.

Versace never fail to produce great gold jewellery. I absolutely covert their pieces and have recently purchased some gold Versace earrings. This braclets would look incredible with any outfit whether it be daytime or evening wear.

This http://gogophilip.com necklace, that was seen on Rita Ora, has a real New York City feel and would look amazing paired with a basic black bodycon dress, black heeled sandles and clutch bag.
(£17.00)
P.S If you haven't had the chance to see The Great Gatsby yet, make sure you do at some point. All the performances are faultless and there really was no better man to play Mr.Gatsby other than Leonardo DiCaprio. And while I'm here promoting (that was sarcasm in internet form) The Great Gatsby, the soundtrack is definitely worth checking out as there are some amazing songs by Lana Del Rey, Florence and the Machine, Nero and Jay Z himself.
TWITTER'IN
I came to the decision that I wanted to keep my personal tweets separate from blogging tweets, and so have set up another twitter account. This account is where I will post my lasted purchases, photo updates, outfit posts etc. I look to any new followers and would enjoy sharing my posts with you along with following you back for similar blogging updates.

THAT TIME OF YEAR
I am sorry for being such a BAD blogger at the moment, it that time of year when exam prep starts to matter. Currently weighed down by a lovely 4000 word history paper on 19th century Italy, along with revision for William Blake poetry and Hamlet, a 2000 word paper on the Great Gatsby and a fashion and portraiture project. Give me a couple of a week and I'll be back on making an effort. In the meantime its going to be the odd instagram upload here and there, with possibly a few bored moans.

It's not ALL gloomy though as I have been able to write one of my pieces on my all time favourite novel, The Great Gatsby and writing my paper is making me increasingly more excited for the upcoming movie. I also moved back into my bedroom this week and its very nearly finished, all I need now is some new curtains/blinds. The picture below makes it appear as if I have no wardrobe however behind me taking the photo, is a set of double doors opening into the pride and joy, that is my built in wardrobe. (As you can see I'm not the tidiest person on the planet).

1000ft IN THE SKY
It's FINALLY beginning to feel like spring. The trends this season are so versatile - cropped and oversized, pastels and neons, graphics and plain. Styling this spring/summer is pretty much up to person taste. I know I'll be mostly sticking to blacks and whites (never been a big fan of colour), however I'm looking forward to playing around with sizing and I'm a big fan of both cropped clothing and big baggy oversized t-shirts.
I think of all the trends this upcoming season, I am most excited for the concept of 'cropped'. Alexander McQueen's SS2013 fashion show emphasised the beauty of a cropped trouser, while Balenciaga and Chanel styled many of their looks with a classic cropped jacket.

MONOCHROMATIC MINT
Not quite sure what came over me today, as I look relatively girly. For the first time in months I'm also wearing colour. I think it may be because of the slight warm up in the weather, I suddenly thought it was appropriate to look 'summery'. Considering I dislike colour I do like this mint jumper, I just can't wait to get it on with some high-waisted shorts or joggers.
(Topshop mint jumper, old Acne blouse, topshop leather leggings, topshop vectra pumps)
